Family Fun becomes a Fiasco: Navigating Karens

Family Fun becomes a Fiasco when caution is thrown to the wind. As long as consensual incest remains taboo in society, there will be those who oppose its practitioners. When you have managed to have that difficult discussion and are finally in a loving and sexual relationship with a family member, you are exploding with happiness. Unfortunately the acceptance within your chosen pairing does not automatically mean acceptance among other family members.

When you are in a state of loving bliss, you often want to shout from the rooftops. But family fun becomes fiasco when silent prudence is not the path forward. This silence is a defense mechanism. When an incestuous couple is outed, for most of the neighborhood it’s hearsay, but with family, they know for a fact your relation. Also, if the tension among neighbors suspecting incestuous family fun is unbearable, there is always the option to move.  Within families it’s best not to rub people’s noses in your sex live. Often the wrath of a slighted family member can be extreme, as they want to make sure that the world knows that they reject your choices.

It’s not just immediate family, aunts, uncles, and cousins, often act as self-appointed enforcers of tradition and family values. These are the ones who won’t let it go. They’re more distant, yet somehow more invasive. They’ll corner you at weddings or funerals, lower their voice, and ask, “So… are you seeing anyone?” But it’s not curiosity—it’s suspicion. If you answer honestly, you risk triggering a moral inquisition. If you sidestep, you feed the gossip loop. Extended family feels removed enough to judge freely but close enough to believe they have the right.

Dynamics Count

The dynamic of an incestuous relationship also plays a part in how people react.  Twin-cest for example is the most widely accepted. Like a form of mutual masturbation, society seems to go lightly on it. After that homosexual incestuous relationships, seem to be the least talked about, maybe because of the protections gays have fought so hard to attain, maybe because their is no risk of offspring. After that we fall into the mom-son dynamic. Titillating but definitely taboo, yet an adult male moving in with his divorced or widowed mom, is seen on the surface as a thoughtful caregiver.

The problem with societal views towards incest gets exaggerated when there is the potential for offspring.  Laws against it continue because society believes that incestuous breeding produces monstrous outcomes, reliant on already strained healthcare systems. So family fun becomes fiasco because people believe that incestuous couples are irresponsible and threatening their resources.
